Crystal Waterfall, London 2010
This piece was commissioned by the dynamic team at Campaign for the beauty clinic, EF Medi Spa in Chelsea.
The brief was simple: water. I used ten thousand crystal beads, illuminated externally, to create a column of glass water droplets in the form of an abstract waterfall.
The highly-concentrated distribution of the crystals is heavier towards the bottom giving the installation a sense of acceleration and splashing.
The wires, on which the crystals are fixed, extend through the work surface and are weighted at the bottom. This extra length of wire makes the Crystal Waterfall very resilient and tactile and invites you to touch, pull and even cuddle the installation!
