Cascade Chandelier, France, 2007
The Cascade chandelier is about purity and displaying a material in a raw and honest way. All of the ‘leaves’ are individually-suspended and gently rotate due to any natural air currents present in the space. During the day, the metal leaves reflect any direct sun light throughout the space like slow-moving fireflies, and during the night they reflect the softness of the dimmed bulbs to create a mesmerising glimmer.
Other Cascade Chandeliers have been commissioned by Conran & Partners as a part of the refurbishment of the World-famous Bluebird Restaurant on Kings Road, and subsequently for Vitra’s London showroom. Cascade Chandeliers have been made in polished stainless steel, polished brass, red-powder-coated steel, and antiqued copper.
