Oyster Chandelier, London 2012
The Oyster Chandelier is installed above a bed in a penthouse apartment in the new Albion Riverside building, designed by Foster and Partners.
The brief was to create something tactile, elegant, and light. The disks were made in very thin porcelain called paper clay and were hand-made by the highly-skilled London-based ceramicist, Kate Luck.
The warmth and texture of the light, together with the sounds made when one runs their hand through the disks all contribute to the elegance and lightness of the piece. Also, the Oyster Chandelier is a homage to Verner Panton’s Fun Chandelier.
